What do the colors on the geo-grid heatmap mean?
Each cell is your Google Maps rank at that exact point, colored by how well you place: green means top 3, amber means the middle of the pack (roughly 6–8), and red means weak or not ranking (9–10 or beyond). Your business location is marked, so you can see how rank fades as you move away from it.
The heatmap turns 16 separate rank checks into a picture: a cluster of green around your marker and red at the edges is the normal proximity pattern. Red where you'd expect to win — near your location, or in a neighborhood you serve — is the signal worth acting on.
Switch keywords with the selector to see that each keyword has its own coverage map; you might be green everywhere for one term and mostly red for another. The summary above the grid gives your average rank where you appear and calls out the weakest side of town.
When a competitor holds green in a spot you don't, the insights flag whether it's a winnable prominence gap — they simply have more reviews or citations there — versus plain distance.
